Riordan really ties things together in heartrending and unexpected ways. I guess I didn’t really know how much the characters started to grow on me until the last volume, and with this one being the potential good-bye to so many familiar faces, there was an extra emotional resonance to all the scenes that polished over some cheesy lines and cliché moments. Riordan does an excellent job pulling the entire cast together and giving everyone an important role to play in the finale. I can’t say that I was really surprised by the fulfillment of any of the prophecies, but I wasn’t disappointed either.
Guess there’s nothing real deep to say about this series. It’s fun, it’s page turning and it fills that aching whole we all have in our hearts for adventure and magic by building a fantastic world and populating it with people that the reader genuinely grows to care about. Great job Mr. Riordan.
