I like big books.

Superman/Batman Vol. 1: Public Enemies

Superman/Batman, Vol. 1: Public Enemies - Jeph Loeb, Ed McGuinness, Dexter Vines, Tim Sale This is my review for the whole series.

This Superman/Batman series is everything it should be. It's epic and personal at the same time. Loeb brilliantly manipulates the tension between Superman and Batman, whose friendship at times seems to rest superficially on a common interest to do good in the world. The two characters greatly disagree as to methodology and are frequently at each other's throats throughout the series. This difficult relationship makes the times when they genuinely show respect to each other all the more heart warming and you hope that they can resolve their differences because they make such a great team.

There are times when the series just seems a bit ludicrous though. In the first volume Batman and Superman take off in a giant space ship that is shaped like their own likeness. Fail.
